There is a quiet few days coming up for the Collett Team with no runners over the weekend giving us time to sit back and watch an exciting day of racing at Flemington on Saturday, arguably the best day of the Victorian Racing carnival with nine Group races on the programme, and then we will hopefully see the All Blacks bring home the Rugby World Cup on Sunday morning.
Our week gets busy from Tuesday with 4 runners nominated at Ellerslie on Melbourne Cup day. So Wotif will start in the R85 1400m, while City Boy will start in the R65 1200m. Both horses have trained on well and look good chances providing they fare well with barrier draws.
Coachline & Bellino have both come through their race at Te Rapa on Monday well, providing they work well on Saturday they may back up in the R85 2200m.
At Avondale on Wednesday, El Escolta will run in the maiden 1400m. He took a while to get over his first up run at Ruakaka. He has had some treatment and has looked much better in his work since. Primrose Hill will run in the maiden fillies and mares 1400m, she performed well first up last preparation but will only get better over more ground. Mills N Boon will be nominated for both 1400m maiden races. She will be improved from her first up run over 1200m and the extra distance should suit.
We have 6 runners pencilled in to trial at Ellerslie on Thursday, Fast Learner, Cartell, Cinematic, Arctic Breeze, Sakhees Secret- Sister City gelding and Son Taari (Perfectly Ready – Cataari) their trials will give us a good indication as to when they will be ready to resume or make their race day debuts.
Biggin Hill was a touch unlucky at Waipa last Friday. He never got a run anywhere in the straight and finished 5th only 1.4 lengths from the winner. He may start next at Te Rapa on 7th November over 1200m. Chaprise was left flat footed early on the good 2 track over 1400m, she tried hard finishing 9th. She will only improve from the race and will start next over 1600m at either Rotorua on Friday 6th or Te Rapa Saturday 7th.

Untamed Diamond ran another good race in the Soliloquy Stakes last Saturday. She jumped quickly from barrier 10 and led the field up until the final 200m where she just came to the end of her run. To her credit she never gave up and fought on bravely to finish 4th. She will be freshened and drop back to 1200m at her next start.
Ventura has picked up nicely from her trip south and has pace worked during the week. She will start next at Avondale on Counties Cup day over 1600m.
