Counties Cup day will again be held at Avondale this year and we have four runners engaged for the meeting. Fast Learner will resume racing in the R85 1400m. He has top weight of 60kgs to carry which will be an ask although he has drawn nicely at barrier 5 and given a good ride by Alysha he should be finishing the race off well.
Bellino and Coachline will start in the R85 2200m race. Both horses are better than their current form line suggests and it wouldn’t surprise if either were to finish in the money. Bellino will be ridden by Opie Bosson and has drawn barrier 2. He has a very good course and distance record, while Coachline starts from barrier 8 and has Alysha Collett on board, he too has a good record over the 2200m.
Ventura has drawn awfully at barrier 17 in the R75 1600m race, unless we get a lot more rain she looks an unlikely starter. She may instead wait until Ellerslie next Saturday over 1400m.

We are looking forward to seeing Sakhee’s Secret – Sister City (now named Dark Secret) and Son Taari make their race day debuts on Wednesday at Te Aroha. Both horses have shown promise in their work and trials to date.
Biggin Hill had every chance at Tauranga last Saturday and went very close to giving Vinnie Colgan his 1000th winner however he was just caught on the post and finished 2nd beaten a head. He will line up again at Ellerslie Saturday 28th over 1100m. Cartell looks set to resume in the same race. Untamed Diamond also looks on target to race again at Ellerslie over 1100m.
Chaprise had her first run over ground at Rotorua on Tuesday. With her missing two races over 1600m due to being on the ballot we were forced to step her up from 1400m to 1950m which was not ideal. She finished 9th but had a wide barrier to overcome and did make up ground steadily in the straight. She will be better for the run and will line up again over 2000m at Waipa on the 26th.
The Swiss Ace- Sacrista gelding and Choisir – Folk Music filly were both excellent in their 2nd jump out on Thursday, jumping quickly and sprinting up over 500m. They may now head to a trial at Avondale on December 8th.
Selfie has worked impressively during the week, he looks bright and keen in his work.
Cinematic was in need of her trial at Cambridge a fortnight ago finishing 5th. She has come through the run well and will look to trial again at Avondale on the 8th December before resuming racing.
El Escolta looks to have pulled a muscle and may need box rest for the rest of the week. Primrose Hill has been freshened up and had an easy week, she may have a brief let up.
Rip Van Winkle – Lady Pay, Cape Blanco – Beauty Queen geldings & and the Savabeel – Shantaine filly have all resumed training this week in very good order. They have grown and developed during their spell. Swiss Ace –Princess Carolina gelding has also resumed this week after a leg injury.
