Japhite (Choisir – Folk Music) will make her race day debut in the 2yo 1100m race at Te Rapa tomorrow. She has drawn nicely at barrier 4 and will be ridden by Alysha Collett. Her track work and trial leading into the race have been very good and although the opposition looks quite strong we expect her to run well.
Biggin Hill will also line up at Te Rapa in the R85 1200m. He will also be ridden by Alysha and should get a nice run in transit from barrier 1.

Untamed Diamond & Cinematic finished 5th and 7th respectively in the Cambridge Breeders Stakes last Saturday. Both runs were full of merit considering the long gap between runs. Cinematic will now head to the spelling paddock while Untamed Diamond will be on a plane early next week to join Ventura & Hot Mustard in Sydney.

Hot Mustard has had a niggly issue with a bruised heel so missed his planned race at Kembla Grange on Tuesday, the track was very firm there which wouldn’t have suited him either. We would like to see some easing in the ground before lining him up again.  Ventura continues to do well, she will trial in a fortnight before making her Australian debut.

Dark Secret was to start at Counties today but drew terribly so he will now head to Waipa on Wednesday 11th over 1150m. Cartell has been good in his work this week and will be nominated for Taranaki next Saturday 14th over 1200m. City Boy has also impressed in his work, he may race at Rotorua next Saturday or possibly make the trip south to Taranaki with Cartell to kick off his campaign.

Swissta, Son Taari and the Alamosa – Pinot Grieve filly will trial at Cambridge on Tuesday. Testa Rossa – Taunt Pauline gelding has had a week of swimming and pacework.

Savabeel- Shantaine filly & Swiss Ace – Vibe gelding have had their work stepped up and looked good working at ¾ speed. Rip Van Winkle – Lady Pay gelding & Top Prospect had a jump out during the week.  The Rip Van Winkle gelding was good out of the gates and will have another jump out on the course proper on Monday. Top Prospect was quite unsettled and will need some more practice through the gates before progressing to a trial.

Two more of our yearlings, the Denman – La Chiflota and Medaglia D’Oro – Lunar Eclipse fillies returned from the breakers earlier in the week. They had some experience working at Counties track and are now having a short spell.

Lastly we will be saying farewell to Les Silk who has unfortunately not stood up to a full preparation after coming back from injury last season. She will now be retired from racing. She had an excellent race record having raced only 7 times for a win and 6 placings.
