Selfie will be back in action in the 3yo 1300m race at Ellerslie on Saturday. He has drawn barrier 9 of 11 and Alysha Collett will take the ride. His work this week has been excellent and there is no reason why he shouldn’t bounce back to his best after his disappointing run at Hastings.
Bellino will start in the R85 2200m race. He has drawn barrier 1 and has his ‘favourite’ jockey back on board in Derek Nolan who has won on him in 4 of his 7 wins to date.
The decision to go straight to the races instead of another trial paid off handsomely for Cinematics’ owners Archer Corporation, Steve Donovan, Chris Miller and Tim Ryley, with a good win at Avondale on Wednesday. Alysha had her in a nice position during the race and she fought on hard in the straight to win by a head over the 1100m journey. It was an excellent effort considering she had been off the scene for over 12 months with a leg injury and had only had one 800m trial going into the race. She will be improved immensely from the run.

Cinematic is by Dane Shadow out of Snapshots which makes her closely related to Selfie who is out of the mare Miss Brownie, also a daughter of Snapshots.
Incidentally Cinematic was bought by Les Archer at the Sydney yearling sales the same sale that Richard purchased Untamed Diamond who also won in good style last Saturday at Ellerslie. She looked good back over the shorter distance and has pulled up well from the race. It was great to see the majority of her big group of owners on course to see her win. She will head to Ellerslie to race again on Boxing Day.
