Promising fillies Untamed Diamond & Cinematic, both impressive last start winners will be race rivals at Te Rapa on Saturday in what looks a very strong Cambridge Breeders Stakes. Untamed Diamond has drawn awkwardly at barrier 9 of 16 runners so will need some luck from there for Alysha Collett who has chosen to stick with the filly. Cinematic has drawn the ace barrier and will have the services of Mark Du Plessis. Mark rode her at her first start and only start as a 2yo. Both fillies go into the race fit and well.
Irish Missile raced at Avondale on Monday. She jumped well and was positioned nicely in the trail throughout the early stages of the race but when asked for an effort in the straight she raced awkwardly laying out and finished a close up 4th beaten less than a length. She can however be excused somewhat as she was found to be shin sore the following day. She is a smart filly and will only be improved with a spell now.
Dark Secret has galloped well this week, providing he works well again on Saturday he may race fresh up at Counties on Friday 6th May over 1200m.
Biggin Hill has come through his race at Ellerslie in good order, he may race next at Te Rapa on 7th May over 1200m. Japhite has also come through her trial win well, she may also make her race day debut on the same day over 1100m.
Swissta, Son Taari & the Alamosa –Pinot Grieve filly have trained on nicely this week. They are working towards Ellerslie trials in a fortnight, and from there a race day start. Top Prospect & Rip Van Winkle – Lady Pay gelding will have jump outs over the next week.
Cartell, City Boy, Les Silk & Testa Rossa – Taunt Pauline gelding have had a week of steady work. Savabeel – Shantaine filly and Swiss Ace – Vibe gelding have worked along quietly.
Mills N Boon’s yearling half-brother by Any Suggestion and the Hussonet – Tevez filly will head to the breakers this week.
Ventura & Hot Mustard have settled in well at our base in Warwick Farm. Hot Mustard will line up over 1600m at Kembla Grange on Tuesday. He has top weight in the apprentice rider’s race and will be ridden by Rachel King claiming 2kgs, she has been placed on him previously. The track is currently a good 4, hopefully there is some rain about to soften the track up a little for him.
