A string of placings on both sides of the Tasman for the stable this week with a 2nd and three 3rds from 6 runners, all fresh up or resuming. Friday at Counties saw Swissta resuming and Shangold making his race day debut. Both acquitted themselves well finishing 3rd running on well over the concluding stages. Shangold looks a likely starter in the maiden 1400m at Ellerslie on Tuesday while Swissta could head to Te Rapa Saturday week, both horses will benefit from the step up in distance at their next starts.
Cinematic, Irish Missile and Son Taari also resumed their campaigns at Avondale on Wednesday. Cinematic produced at excellent run, she jumped well racing on the pace and finished off the race strongly to run 2nd beaten a head right on the line. She has strengthened up well during her break and looks to have a good season ahead of her. She will head to Tauranga on the 12th for her next start again over 1200m. Irish Missile (7th) and Son Taari (8th) were both in need of their outings and we expect improvement from them at their next starts, Irish Missile will head to Dargaville in a fortnight over 1200m while Son Taari will step up to 2100m again at Avondale on the 15th November.
Top Prospect has also come on nicely since his win at Ruakaka, providing he gallops well on Saturday he could race at Ellerslie on Tuesday over 1600m.
Biggin Hill, City Boy and Selfie will gallop on Saturday and could all race at Te Rapa on Saturday 5th November. Biggin Hill was unsuited by the heavy testing Rotorua track at his last start and has trained on well since.
Fast Learner will trial at Ellerslie on Thursday, safely through the trial he will resume at Tauranga on Saturday 12th November over 1400m.
Lady Henrietta has impressed in her faster work and has been good through the barriers this week. She will have a jump out next Thursday. Japhite has unfortunately has some foot issues since her race at Ruakaka and has had a quiet fortnight since. Florence Hill has also had a quiet week of pace work.
Captain Rio – Pyrate Princess gelding & Time Lord (Guillotine – Mary Agnes) have worked along at ¾ speed this week, both are due further faster workouts again on Saturday.
Red Giant – She’s A Tomboy has pace worked and had some barrier practice through the wooden gates this week. Molly Polly and the Medgalia D’oro – Lunar Ecplise filly have almost completed a month back in the stable and continue with pace work. Azamour – Cataari gelding is working along nicely in his 2nd week back at the track.
