Cartell & Biggin Hill will be race rivals in the R85 1100m at Ellerslie on Saturday. With 59.5kgs and Zinjete Moki away at a wedding this weekend Cartell will be ridden by 3kg claimer Alyssa Schwerin. His fresh up record is very good and he has had the benefit of a trial going into the race. Biggin Hill will again be ridden by Vinnie Colgan and has drawn barrier 1. He only needs to go one better than his last start close up 2nd.

Untamed Diamond will start in the R65 1100m. She will be ridden by Alysha Collett and has drawn barrier 8 of 11. She will appreciate the drop back in distance and shouldn’t be worried by any rain about.

Chaprise was to line up in the R65 2100m however she has had tying up issues this week and will be scratched.

In Australia Hot Mustard will have his first run back at Nowra on Sunday over 1400m. He will be ridden by Cody Nestor. It looks a nice race for him to kick off this campaign.

Fast Learner ran a slasher first up to finish 4th at Avondale last Saturday. After missing the start by 5 lengths he powered home late down the outside to finish the same distance from the winner, all the while carrying 60kgs. He appears to have pulled up in excellent order and will line up next at Te Rapa on 12th December over 1600m.

Bellino and Coachline were both very disappointing in their race. Bellino got the run of the race for Opie Bosson but never travelled at all from the inside barrier and was battling from the turn finishing 9th. He has pulled up with no ill effects and will race again at Ellerslie over 2200m on 5th December.

Coachline however pulled up poorly and the decision has been made to retire him from racing. He had a very good career, racing 29 times for 4 wins and 16 placings for his owners Roger Cooksley and partners.  ‘Henry’ was one of the stable favourites and will be missed. He has gone to a good home and will make a lovely equestrian horse.

Ventura was also a little disappointing. She drew the outside barrier however Alysha managed to get her into a good spot and travelling well without covering any extra ground. On turning for home she hit some traffic problems but once clear really only travelled fairly to the line to finish 9th, 3.5 lengths from the winner. She has done a great job this preparation and has now gone to the spelling paddock for a 6-8 week break.

Dark Secret and Son Taari both made their debuts on Wednesday at Te Aroha with sound runs. Son Taari jumped away quickly and was in a good position just behind the leaders all the way. He just lacked a final sprint over the concluding stages, finishing up 7th 4.4 lengths from the winner. It was a good effort as the track was very firm and he gives the impression he will be better with some give in the ground. He has now gone to the spelling paddock for an 8 week break and will come back in when the tracks are wetter.

Dark Secret raced midfield for most of his race, he came off the rail on the turn and loomed up like the winner half way down the straight then just peaked on his run to finish 4th. Providing he comes through the race well he may race next at Ellerslie on Sunday 13th over 1200m.

Selfie looked impressive in a solo gallop on Wednesday and will gallop again on Saturday in preparation for the 3yo 1300m race at Ellerslie on December 5th.

Cinematic has sharpened up well in her work over the past week and may head straight to the races over the next fortnight instead of trialling. Primrose Hill has freshened up nicely and may race next at Ellerslie on 9th December over 1600m.

The Swiss Ace- Sacrista gelding has trained on well from his jump out, while the Choisir – Folk Music filly has headed to the spelling paddock for a short break.

Rip Van Winkle – Lady Pay, Cape Blanco – Beauty Queen geldings & Savabeel – Shantaine filly, Swiss Ace –Princess Carolina gelding have all worked along quietly in their first week back.
So Wotif has returned to the training track this week, he has had a quiet week trotting and cantering.

Currently Spelling –     Captain Rio – Pyrate Princess gelding, Queen of Cool, Alamosa – Pinot Grieve & Irish Missile, Red Giant – Regal Symphony, Arctic Breeze, Red Giant – She’s a Tomboy,  Florence Hill, City Boy, Choisir –Folk Music filly, Ventura & El Escolta.
