Biggin Hill held on for a well-deserved, albeit narrow win over 1200m at Ruakaka on Wednesday. Ridden by our apprentice Zinjete Moki, the 3kg claim helped him greatly and the dead 5 track conditions were to his liking. Congratulations to owner Joanne Sims. Joanne & her late husband Ian have been great supporters of the stable over a long period, racing horses associated with the name ‘Hill” Our other runners at Ruakaka, Proud Life was given a lovely ride by Alysha Collett and finished an honest 3rd Bachelor Brave faded to run midfield after having to work quite hard during the race.
Our Kismet will race at Ellerslie tomorrow over 1400m. She will be ridden by Michael Coleman and has drawn barrier 1. Judging by her recent work on heavy training tracks she shouldn’t be bothered by the heavy 10 track.
He’s A Bigbeel will also race tomorrow at Ellerslie over 1400m and will be ridden by Craig Grylls. It is his first run this preparation and he too has been working well on the heavy tracks going into the race.
Raadical Jazz continues to be plagued by bad draws and unsuitable tracks. He will race at Te Aroha Wednesday 27th in the maiden high weight over 1600m.
Primrose Hill will also race at Te Aroha next Wednesday over 1600m. She has been working along nicely since her good run for 3rd first up over 1400m.
The Hawk will kick off this campaign at Te Aroha over 1400m before stepping up over 1600m possibly at Avondale a fortnight later.
Hot Mustard has come through his first up run well and looks on track to race again at Kembla Grange Thursday 28th over 1500m.
Jesshanimo has come through his win at Waipa in good order. Providing he gallops well tomorrow he will race at Te Aroha Wednesday 27th over 1200m.
Chaprise is close to being back to full fitness and has been working well on the heavy tracks, she will race at Matamata Wednesday 3rd June over 1400m.
Blue Pool Blur has continued to train on well and may make his debut at Matamata on the same day over 1400m.
Les Silk is steadily getting sharper with recent gallops. She continues to work well.
City Boy & El Escolta will have their first work at ¾ speed tomorrow since returning from a stint on the water walker. They are both in very good condition.
Perfectly Ready –Cataari has improved his manners immensely since working in blinkers this week.
Mills N Boon has taken a little while to get over her race at Waipa. She will race next at Avondale on 10th June over 1400m.
Coachline has had a steady week and may be freshened up to run at either Waikato on 6th June or Ruakaka 13th June.
With today’s cancellation of trials for Waipa next Thursday plans for Queen of Cool, So Wotif, Shantav, Ventura and Suad are all to be advised. We will need to look at other race/trial options coming up.
Cartell & Fast Learner have both resumed training this week. They are both done very well during their spell.
Bellino has missed work with a niggly stone bruise and with no suitable races coming up on reasonable tracks has been turned out for a month.
Yearlings –
Testa Rossa – Taunt Pauline gelding and Domesday – Orpenalla gelding worked at Counties track this morning. They will have another week working at the track before spelling.
Alamosa – Pinot Grieve filly & Smart Missile – Miss Shamrock filly were ridden for the first time today. They are both progressing well through their breaking in.
Cape Blanco –Beauty Queen colt & Rip Van Winkle – Lady Pay gelding – have completed their educational work at Counties track and will head for the spelling paddock today.
Currently Spelling – Lady Royale, Untamed Diamond, Selfie, Cinematic & Bellino.
