The stable has two runners this weekend with Biggin Hill running at Ellerslie on Saturday over 1200m after having a short let up. He will be ridden for the first time by Alysha and although on the fresh side we expect a competitive effort.
On Anzac Day at Avondale Irish Missile will be out to improve on her solid first up 2nd placing at Avondale in March. She has drawn nicely in the 2yo fillies’ race which also carries a pearl bonus which our filly is eligible for.
At Waipa last Thursday we trialled two 2yo’s over 900m and both won their first trials impressively. Japhite followed up a recent local jump out by winning her trial nicely. The Testa Rossa – Taunt Pauline gelding we have recently been syndicating led easily and held on well to win his heat.
Both were selected and purchased by Judy & I in Australia last year and brought home to race in stable partnerships similar to that of Untamed Diamond.
Speaking of Untamed Diamond, she bypassed the holding Tauranga track last weekend and will line up in a fresh state next Saturday in the Cambridge Breeders Stakes at Te Rapa over 1200m. She continues to train on nicely and is stronger than ever. Cinematic was also scratched from Tauranga and will head to the same race next Saturday.

Cartell is getting close to resuming back at the races also following a brief freshen up. If he gallops well on Tuesday he will also go to Te Rapa for an open 1200m race.
Maidener Dark Secret went nicely in a 900m jump out early last week and is getting close to resuming on race day. He showed plenty of promise in the spring. City Boy won his jump out, he is still in solid condition but coming to hand nicely.
Son Taari & Les Silk had gallops in company this week and will have a trial before returning to the races late in May. By then the tracks should have eased to suit both horses.
Fast Learner ricked a fetlock in a gallop last week and missed the opportunity to start in the Easter Handicap at Ellerslie, with tracks due to deteriorate which he struggles with we will now spell him. Florence Hill who trialed well at Avondale earlier this month has also been spelled.
Swissta & Top Prospect (Swiss Ace – Princess Carolina) continue to make good progress in recent gallops, they will both trial early in May.
Rip Van Winkle –Lady Pay gelding & the Savabeel – Shantaine filly have settled back into the stable well and are thriving, as is stable newcomer 3yo Swiss Ace - Vibe gelding.
The stable had its first yearlings return from the breakers this week. The All American – Do Gooda & Manhattan Rain – Madam Devine fillies will have a week at the track learning our routine before having a six week spell.
Ventura was flown to Sydney on Wednesday to join Hot Mustard in stables at Warwick Farm we have leased. Ventura is a promising mare who enjoys softer ground as does Hot Mustard so both should have a successful next few months. Both horses will race under my licence and are in the care of Claire Cunningham who was previously Peter Moody’s Sydney foreperson.
