Although stepping up to open company Bellino looks well placed over 2100m at Te Rapa tomorrow. He will again be ridden by Derek Nolan and will start from barrier 7 of 8. He has a slight weight drop to 58kgs from the 60kgs he has been carrying at his most recent starts. Bellino has won 4 races at Te Rapa and looked back to his best form when running 4th last start.

Fast Learner will also appreciate the drop in weight to 54kgs in the open 1600m tomorrow from the 60kgs he carried first up. He has drawn well at barrier 5 and will be ridden by Alysha Collett. Providing he runs well he will head towards the Rich Hill Mile on New Year’s Day.

Cinematic will start in the R65 1200m. She has drawn the outside barrier, 11 of 11 so Alysha will need plenty of luck in the running. All three horses have trained on well from their previous starts.

Hot Mustard is our other runner for the weekend, he will race in Australia, at Kembla Grange on Saturday in a class 2 1600m race. He has drawn barrier 5 and will be ridden by James Innes Jnr. The extra distance will suit but he still may be in need of the run.

Cartell & Biggin Hill have come through their race at Te Rapa last Saturday satisfactorily. Both horses became very unsettled with the loading and unloading at the barrier and had run their race by the time the gates were adjusted. They raced accordingly finishing 5th & 6th of 7 runners. Cartell will race again on Boxing Day either over 1200 or 1400m while Biggin Hill will start again on the 28th over 1200m.

Selfie & Untamed Diamond have trained on very well this week. Both horses will gallop on Saturday and look in good order going into their assignments on Boxing Day. So Wotif  will also gallop on Saturday, providing he works well he may line up on Boxing Day or the 28th over 1200m.
Primrose Hill will start over 2200m at Rotorua on the 27th December.

Swiss Ace – Sacrista gelding has had an easy week with a cough, he looks unlikely now to make the 2yo race on the 28th.

Dark Secret didn’t have much luck in the running in his race at Ellerslie last week. He raced three wide midfield for most of the race and could be forgiven for lacking any fight over the concluding stages finishing 8th. His first up run had been promising and he has now gone to the spelling paddock for a break.

Rip Van Winkle – Lady Pay, Cape Blanco – Beauty Queen & Captain Rio – Pyrate Princess geldings will have their work stepped up over the next week. They are all in excellent condition.

Swiss Ace –Princess Carolina gelding, Suad & Irish Missile have all got through a steady week of pace work.
All of our younger horses, although only working along slowly look in great shape heading into the summer months.

Currently Spelling –     Queen of Cool, Alamosa – Pinot Grieve filly, Red Giant – Regal Symphony, Arctic Breeze, Red Giant – She’s a Tomboy,  Florence Hill, City Boy, Choisir –Folk Music filly, Ventura, Son Taari, Savabeel – Shantaine filly & Dark Secret.
