Spring is here and the studs are hard at work foaling new champions! Two of our previous top class race mares have had foals over the past week. November Rain has foaled a colt by O’Reilly while further south Shandream has foaled a filly by Savabeel.  It is great to see the progeny of our former race mares and we follow their careers with much interest. Photos below courtesy of their proud owners.

We have three runners at Ruakaka on Saturday.  Selfie will be having his first start back this preparation and has drawn a superb line up of three year olds in the Tavistock Northland Breeders Stakes over 1200m. He will be ridden by Alysha Collett. Bellino & Coachline will start in the R85 1400m. Both horses have performed well fresh in the past but will obviously be suited over more ground. Bellino will be ridden by Zinjete Moki claiming 3kg and Alysha Collett will ride Coachline. Fast Learner was to race at Ruakaka but was withdrawn after a minor setback.

Queen of Cool will bypass Rotorua on Sunday due to some muscle soreness and may now race at Avondale next Saturday 19th over 1200m.

City Boy has galloped well during the week. He looks on target for Hastings Saturday 19th, Ventura & Blue Pool Blur have also trained on well for Avondale the same day.

Untamed Diamond is taking a little longer to get back to race day fitness, she may start at Te Rapa on 2nd October over 1200m.

Raadical Jazz & El Escolta are both waiting for better track conditions and have just worked along steadily this week. They both may race at Ruakaka on the 30th September.  So Wotif is freshening up nicely, he may also start again at Ruakaka on the 30th or Te Rapa on the 2nd October over 1400m.

Cartell has worked well in his gallops this week, he is not far off having a trial.

Biggin Hill has had a couple of workouts at ¾ speed this week, he is looking good in his work and still carrying plenty of condition. Perfectly Ready – Cataari is showing good improvement but still proving to be a little wayward in his track work.

Chaprise is another who has worked well at speed during the week, she is coming to hand nicely.

Mills N Boon, Arctic Breeze & Primrose Hill are due for step up to some faster work on Saturday.

Lady Royale, Sahkees Secret – Sister City gelding & Red Giant – Regal Symphony filly continue with pace work.

Two year olds –

The Smart Missile – Miss Shamrock filly is showing plenty of natural ability in her faster work. Alamosa – Pinot Grieve filly and Rip Van Winkle – Lady Pay gelding have worked well in their 600m workouts.

Captain Rio – Pyrate Princess Gelding & Savabeel – Shantaine and Keeper – Mondue fillies have all worked along quietly at the track this week.

Currently Spelling –     Swiss Ace- Sacrista, Swiss Ace- Princess Caroline, Choisir – Folk Music, Florence Hill, Man of Power – Ocean Run & Cinematic.
