This Saturday we head to the premier meeting at Ellerslie with three competitive chances from our team. First up Cartell contests the R85 benchmark event over 1200 metres. Drawn the outside of the small but competitive 10 horse field, Cartell may have to work a bit early to avoid been caught wide.

In the next Cinematic lines up in a R65 Benchmark 1200metre contest. The filly has been training very well and we expect a bold run from her.

Our final runner is Fast Learner in the R85 Benchmark 1600metre with top weight of 61.5kgs. However Zinjete Moki’s 3kg claim will bring him down to a more competitive weight. Fast Learner is a horse that has proven he likes space in his racing so the small field and improved barrier draw than his previous two starts in Stakes Company should be more to his liking.

Counties Racing Club held jump outs on the course proper last Monday morning which saw a large number of horses try the new surface out in a more pressured situation. Our 2 year old fillies Florence Hill, Irish Missile and the Savabeel – Shantaine filly all had 800 metres jumpouts. Each filly was well behaved and did what was expected of them. The Irish Missile a previous trial winner will look forward to a race day start in the coming weeks, while the other two fillies will progress through to having an official trial in coming months.

Biggin Hill has had a quiet week pace working but will resume fast work Saturday morning in preparation for his scheduled race next Saturday at Te Rapa over 1400 metres.

With the continued opportunity to gallop horses on the course proper on Tuesday morning we sent City Boy, Ventura and Japhite out in company and all worked nicely.

Queen of Cool
continues to progress in her training while two year olds Alamosa – Pinot Grieve filly & the Testa Rossa – Taunt Pauline gelding are both working professionally in company at three quarter speed. They will continue to build upon this fitness while also receiving wooden gate barrier practice.

Dark Secret will step up to working at three quarter speed this week, while Son Taari and Les Silk continue to progress nicely in their training.

Two year olds Swissta and the Swiss Ace – Princess Carolina gelding are ticking over steadily.

The Rip Van Winkle – Lady Pay gelding re-joined the stable this week following a six week break from shin soreness. Lady Henrietta the new addition to the team is slowly settling into the stable routine.

Manhattan Rain - Madam Devine
and the All American - Do Gooda fillies which Richard and Judy purchased from the Sydney Yearling Sales in February will head to the horse breakers early next week. The All American - Do Gooda filly is owned by long-time client Joanne Sims while the Manhattan Rain - Madam Devine filly will be raced by Leigh Crockford along with Richard and Judy.
